Balance problems and dizziness effect a large proportion of the population over a lifetime, and can have a severe effect on quality of life as well as increase the risk of injury from falls. We use advanced computerised balance assessment equipment to identify your risk of falls, and things such as direction of sway and which component of your balance system may be under functioning, in order to help us formulate a rehabilitation and treatment plan for you. We commonly see older patients with a high risk of falling, as well as more chronic and complex cases of dizziness in all ages that may not have responded to treatments such as medications. This type of therapy is often referred to as Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT).
All of our treatments and assessments are grounded in the current neuroscience literature (research), and rehabilitation can often be performed at home, minimising the need for you to attend the clinic once a program has been prescribed. Monitoring of your response is carried out with re-assessment as required.
Please contact the clinic for further information, or for a chat with chiropractors who have a special interest in this topic – Simon Brice or Verity Ellis – to see if we might be able to help you.
